Lance Armstrong, former professional cyclist and seven-time Tour de France winner, has announced the launch of a new cycling club in the neighborhood where he grew up, as a way to give back to the community that helped shape him. Armstrong, originally from Plano, Texas, expressed his excitement about creating a space where young people and cycling enthusiasts can develop their skills, learn about the sport, and share their passion for cycling.
The club, located in the same streets where Armstrong trained as a youth, aims to promote the athletic development of local children and teenagers. Armstrong explained that this project is a way of thanking the community for the support he received throughout his career. “This neighborhood shaped me not only as a cyclist but as a person. I always dreamed of coming back and doing something meaningful here,” he stated.
The club will offer cycling classes, guided training sessions, and workshops on health and wellness, with the goal of inspiring the next generation. Armstrong emphasized that the club will not only be a sporting space but also a place where young people can learn values such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.
Despite the controversies that marked his career, Armstrong is determined to focus on creating a positive impact in his community through this new project, opening up opportunities for future cycling talent.
