Pauline Ferrand-Prévot has shared insights into her disappointing experience at the World Championships in Zurich, where she withdrew midway through the race. Initially viewed as a potential contender, Ferrand-Prévot quickly realized that her race was not going as planned. “I ate far too much,” she explained in an interview with Cyclism’Actu, noting that her pre-race preparation backfired as her stomach could not handle the food. This led to her vomiting, a clear signal that her performance was compromised.
Reflecting on her experience, Ferrand-Prévot expressed mixed feelings about the event, stating, “I thought I would do much better.” She acknowledged that it had been a considerable time since her last road race and that she rarely trains for such long distances, making her struggle more understandable. Despite the disappointment, she feels motivated to improve over the winter.
At 32, Ferrand-Prévot is making her return to road racing after nearly three years and is now focused on her future with Visma | Lease a Bike, aiming for success at the Tour de France Femmes.
