Eli Tomac recently competed in the 2024 Motocross of Nations (MXoN) at the Matterley Basin circuit in the UK, where he represented Team USA. Although his performance was impressive, Team USA ultimately finished in second place, narrowly losing to Team Australia. Tomac delivered a strong showing, placing second in the MXGP/MX2 race and third in the final MXGP/Open race. These finishes were critical in helping Team USA achieve their runner-up position.
Tomac’s inclusion on the team was last-minute due to Chase Sexton’s injury, but he adapted quickly and proved his skill by leading much of the final race. At 31 years old, and with plans to retire from full-time competition next season, Tomac’s performance was a testament to his resilience and experience, especially given the challenging weather conditions and demanding track. However, he admitted that “second place doesn’t sit well” with him, reflecting his competitive spirit and desire to win.
Next year’s MXoN will take place at Ironman Raceway in Indiana, giving Tomac and Team USA the chance to seek victory on home soil.
